Good Morning FC have sealed promotion into the Central Region Soccer League (CRSL) Division One with a game to spare after clinching the ZIFA Midlands Division 2B title — finishing the season with an impressive 13-point lead.

After a record unbeaten run that captured the imagination of local football fans, Good Morning FC displayed consistency, resilience, and tactical discipline throughout the 2025 campaign. Their entertaining style of play made them crowd favourites and a beacon of football excellence in Sherwood.

Backed by strong financial support from their patron Chana Mugwirwa, the Village 10-based side dominated both on the pitch and in community engagement, attracting huge crowds from across Sherwood and beyond.

Known for their flair and attacking football, Good Morning FC stormed to the Division 2B championship, bringing top-class football to the farming community of Sosombi.

Head coach Philemon Veremu expressed gratitude to the club’s leadership, players, and supporters for their unwavering commitment throughout the season.

“We feel honoured and blessed to be the 2025 champions. We thank God, our patron Mr. Mugwirwa, our executive, the players and most importantly the supporters and the entire Village 10 Sosombi community,” said Veremu.

Veremu acknowledged that the team endured a demanding season, both on and off the field, crediting their success to a blend of experienced and disciplined young players.

“All the teams were tough and competitive from the first game until now. We managed to sail through because we had assembled a balanced squad full of talented and experienced young players,” he said.

The coach also highlighted the financial challenges the club faced during the campaign, commending the role of their patron and loyal supporters.

“There are top Premier League teams struggling financially, so imagine a Division 2 side like ours pulling through. We are grateful to our patron, who kept the ship afloat in difficult times. Our fans were amazing — singing all day, home and away. We received support from Amaveni, Mbizo, Redcliff, Village 10, and other surrounding areas. Their energy was incredible,” Veremu added.

Reflecting on key moments in the season, Veremu said their defeat to WhaWha FC in the Champions of Champions Cup final and their only league loss to Flame Lily FC served as motivation.

“Those defeats were a wake-up call. They reignited our hunger and pushed us to refocus on our main goal — winning promotion,” he said.

Good Morning FC will be officially crowned ZIFA Midlands Division 2B champions on Sunday, November 16, at Sosombi Ground after their final match against Silobela United.
