The Municipality of Redcliff says it has recorded a significant improvement in water supply from Kwekwe, with efforts underway to ensure equitable distribution across all suburbs.
Municipality of Redcliff Civil Engineer Alice Utete said in an interview after a full council meeting that water pressure levels had stabilised, allowing for better supply to the town.
“I can say there’s improved water supply from Kwekwe. We’re getting it on an average of 3.5 to 4 bars, and we’re trying to ensure that all suburbs get water,” Utete said.
She explained that the municipality had recently implemented measures to balance distribution, including temporarily isolating some areas.
“As of last week, we had isolated Redcliff so that Torwood can also get water. At the same time, we were also cleaning our Redcliff tanks,” she said.
Utete said normal supply to Redcliff had since resumed following the completion of maintenance works.
“Now that we are done, we’ve resumed supply to Redcliff. Our tanks are still filling up, and once they are filled up, we’ll supply to our residents,” she said.
She reiterated that the situation had improved overall, bringing relief to residents who have previously experienced inconsistent water supply.
“In summary, there’s a significant improvement in water supply from Kwekwe,” Utete said.
The municipality has faced ongoing challenges with water supply in recent years, but officials say current interventions are aimed at stabilising the system and improving service delivery.
