Zibagwe Rural District Council (ZRDC) is mobilising resources for the construction of a clinic in Ward 5, Silobela with the community already contributing materials to kick-start the project.
Speaking during a full council meeting recently, ZRDC chief executive officer Farayi D. Machaya said the council, working with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, had completed the siting of a clinic block at Kotamayi Clinic during the quarter under review.
“The community has mobilised materials to kick-start construction,” Machaya said.
He said local contributions included 60 bags of cement donated by MP J Nyevera, while the local councillor, Elliot Mutero contributed 10 bags of cement and water connection accessories.
The proposed clinic is expected to serve communities in Ward 5 and neighbouring Ward 31, according to Machaya.
“Once the clinic is constructed it will go a long way in saving the communities of Ward 5 and 31,” he said.
The project comes as the rural district council continues to expand social amenities and infrastructure across its wards.
Machaya also said council had established new business centres at Mzemba and Newtown in Ward 14, as well as Sengezi, Majubane and Mtero in Ward 9.
The exercise, he said, was ongoing and included upgrading tuckshops into formal business centres.
Council also sited two public toilets and a flea market at Silobela Business Centre in Ward 26, while a flea market and vegetable market were established at Columbina Rural Service Centre in Ward 8.
On spatial planning, Machaya said council had also sited and pegged an abattoir for the National Parks at Sebakwe Farm, alongside 45 commercial, three industrial and three institutional stands during the quarter under review.
