Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube has appealed to the business community, churches and other stakeholders to support the construction of a new Mbizo Police Station through cash and in-kind donations.
Speaking at a fundraising event in Kwekwe today (Friday), Ncube said the project required collective support to improve policing infrastructure and enhance public safety.
He urged companies, organisations and individuals to contribute money, building materials, equipment and other resources towards the construction of what he described as a modern, Vision 2030-compliant police station.
“Every contribution is an investment in the establishment and sustenance of safety, peace and tranquillity as well as the prosperity of the Mbizo community in particular and our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe,” he said.
Ncube said the fundraising initiative reflected government’s policy of promoting public-private partnerships to mobilise resources for national development.
He noted that Mbizo Police Station, established in 1978 and upgraded to a fully fledged police station in 1981, has continued to serve the community despite its ageing infrastructure.
The minister said a new facility would improve the working environment for police officers and strengthen service delivery.
