Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube has commended the government for what he said were efforts to transform the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) into a professional, responsive and people-oriented service while improving officers’ working conditions.
Speaking at a fundraising event for the construction of a new Mbizo Police Station in Kwekwe Ncube said government had invested in improving police welfare through the provision of service vehicles, food rations and solarised boreholes at police camps.
“I commend His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, for transforming the ZRP into a professional and responsive people-oriented force and improving conditions of service for officers through the provision of service vehicles, food rations and solarised boreholes in camps to enhance water and sanitation,” he said.
Ncube also praised Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba for implementing training and development programmes aimed at equipping officers with contemporary policing skills under the force’s back-to-basics model.
