Zibagwe Rural District Council (ZRDC) Chief Executive Officer Farayi Desimond Machaya says council has begun the process of procuring motorbikes for councillors as part of efforts to enhance their mobility and effectiveness in executing their duties.

Addressing councillors during a full council meeting, Machaya said council had already started making deductions towards the acquisition of the motorbikes, adding that further details would be communicated once procurement approvals were finalised.

“Turning to councillors’ welfare, council has started deductions towards the acquisition of motorbikes to improve councillors’ mobility,” Machaya said. “Modalities will be advised in due course once the procurement process is concluded.”

He said improved mobility would enable councillors to better access wards, engage communities and monitor service delivery across the rural district.

In the same address, Machaya reported progress on performance management, saying fourth-quarter performance contract assessments for the Chief Executive Officer and the Council Chairperson had been conducted. He said client and employee satisfaction surveys were also carried out, with results indicating improving satisfaction levels, although challenges remained in self-delivery, particularly in the provision of potable water.
