Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has commended the senior men’s national team for its performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, where the Chevrons reached the Super Eight stage for the first time.

In a statement following a board meeting held in Harare on Friday, ZC praised the team’s campaign at the tournament, which was co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

ZC chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani said the achievement reflected the team’s progress.

“Reaching the Super Eight stage for the first time is a testament to the hard work, discipline and belief within the squad and the technical team,” he said.

Zimbabwe recorded wins over Australia and Sri Lanka and advanced through the group stage without defeat.

ZC said qualification for the Super Eight stage secured Zimbabwe a place at the next ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2028.

The board said the result highlighted Zimbabwe’s growing competitiveness in international cricket.

Mukuhlani also commended Zimbabwe’s co-hosting of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 with Namibia.

“This reflects Zimbabwe’s growing reputation as a capable host of major international cricket events,” he said.

He added that the tournament was successfully delivered by the local organising structures, citing strong coordination and organisation.

ZC said it appreciated the efforts of its management and the Local Organising Committee in staging the tournament.
