Public Service Commission (PSC) Kwekwe District Coordinator Nungirayi Masaka has called for the strengthening of partnerships and synergies between Kwekwe Polytechnic and its stakeholders, saying collaboration is key to sustainable institutional and national development.

Masaka made the remarks while delivering a speech at the Kwekwe Polytechnic Awards Excellence Ceremony, an event held to recognise outstanding performance by staff and departments at the institution.

She said the ceremony was more than a celebration of individual achievement, describing it as an important platform for motivating excellence through recognition and rewards, particularly within human capital institutions.

“This gathering brings together Kwekwe Polytechnic and stakeholders from industry, commerce and both the private and public sectors, whose interdependence cannot be ignored,” Masaka said. “The institution cannot thrive in isolation, just as the community and economy cannot progress without it.”

Masaka emphasised that a prosperous Kwekwe and Zimbabwe at large depended on a strong relationship between training institutions and stakeholders who provide resources, industrial attachment opportunities and markets for goods and services produced by polytechnics.

She commended the college leadership for successfully hosting the second edition of the awards ceremony despite prevailing economic challenges, describing it as a demonstration of resilience and commitment.

Masaka also noted that Kwekwe Polytechnic’s growing enrolment, which attracts students from across the country and beyond, was evidence of the institution’s rising profile and credibility. She attributed this growth to the collective efforts of the college staff and management.

The PSC official further applauded the institution for being named the 2025 champion among polytechnics and for receiving recognition for innovative projects at the 2025 Presidential Innovation Fair, saying the achievement placed the college under national scrutiny as Zimbabwe implements Phase Two of the National Development Strategy (NDS2).

Masaka urged award recipients to remain committed to excellence, while encouraging those who were not recognised to continue striving for improved performance.

“When Kwekwe Polytechnic thrives, all stakeholders benefit,” he said.

The Awards Excellence Ceremony is part of the institution’s efforts to promote a culture of performance, accountability and continuous improvement.
