Kwekwe Polytechnic Principal Evans Musara has warned against drug and substance abuse, likening it to “weapons of mass destruction” as he urged graduates to embrace skills and entrepreneurship.

Speaking during the institution’s 14th Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) graduation ceremony on Friday, Musara said drug abuse was robbing communities of a bright future and destroying the potential of young people.

“Just like you have weapons of mass destruction, in fact, drugs are weapons of mass destruction,” he said. “Drug and substance abuse robs us of a bright future and devastates the lives of brilliant minds and promising entrepreneurs.”

He called on the graduates to remain focused on building their futures through skills acquired at the institution.

“Life does not start and end with degrees. These are the critical skills which we need. We must maintain and continue to produce these kinds of skills for us to remain well and improve from where we are,” Musara said.

The principal also pledged institutional support for graduates interested in starting business ventures.

“My institution stands ready to assist you in establishing graduate-led business units. We have dedicated teams and resources in place to support you,” he said.

Musara congratulated the graduates, encouraging them to “dream big” and contribute to the country’s development.
