Hardrock FC and Caps United played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Chahwanda Stadium today (Sunday), with both sides producing an attacking display that kept the fans on their toes.

Hardrock’s goals came from Washington Navaya and substitute Wilfred Manzungu, who scored twice. Caps United replied through Kudzai Chigwida, substitute Obriel Chirinda and Kope Mugalu to earn a share of the points.

Speaking after the match, Hardrock FC head coach Kelvin Kaindu said his side had controlled the better part of the game but paid the price for a costly mistake.

“I think it was a good game. The overall performance showed that we have teams capable of entertaining the fans. We come away with a point, but I feel we have dropped two points. We were in control, made one mistake and were punished,” said Kaindu.

Despite the result, Kaindu remained encouraged by his team’s position in the league, saying consistency in collecting points against other opponents would remain key to their campaign.

Caps United head coach Takesure Chiragwi described the contest as both difficult and exciting, praising his players for fighting back to secure a point.

“We wanted to win, but it was a very difficult game. Both teams played well and created attacking opportunities. We conceded goals we could have avoided, but I am happy that we scored three goals and came back more than once to earn the draw,” he said.

Chiragwi also commended the supporters who turned out in large numbers, saying they were rewarded with an entertaining match.

“I think the fans enjoyed their money today. There were goals, good performances and exciting football. We just need to appreciate the effort from the boys and take the point,” he said.

The Caps United coach also praised the impact of his new signings, highlighting Mugalu’s goal-scoring contribution despite the player having only recently joined the club after a lengthy spell without competitive football.

Chiragwi said the team’s improved attacking display was a positive sign as they look to build momentum during the remainder of the season.

“We cannot keep dwelling on the past. The important thing is moving forward. Today we scored three goals, which has been the missing link for us, and we want to build on that in the coming matches,” he said.
