Kwekwe Polytechnic recorded an 83 percent pass rate in the 2025 academic year, surpassing the national average, the institution’s principal has said.
Speaking during the college’s Awards of Excellence Ceremony, principal Evans Musara said the institution also won the 2025 Presidential Award for Best Innovative Tertiary Institution, which came with a cash prize of US$10 000.
“Our overall pass rate stood at 83 percent, which is well above the national pass rate,” Musara said. “On December 11, 2025, at the Harare International Conference Centre, we received the Presidential Award for Best Innovative Tertiary Institution. We also had two other innovations that emerged best in their respective categories, winning US$5 000 and US$2 000.”
Musara said the college received several other accolades in 2025, including the CEO Network Gold Award for Outstanding Professional Excellence and three awards at the 2025 TIFAZ Competitions — Platinum Awards in the Drawing and Photography categories and a Gold Award in Textile Design.
He added that the institution was named Midlands Province Tertiary Institution of the Year by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), won Best Tertiary Education Institution at the Kwekwe Expo, and was awarded Business Connect Iconic Business Organisation of the Year. A lecturer at the college, Solomon Mundoga, also won the Business Connect Iconic Business Leader of the Year award.
“These accolades were awarded following evaluations by external and independent partners who recognised the work being done at the institution,” Musara said. “In addition, the college continues to implement projects that positively impact the community, including corporate social responsibility initiatives, ESG programmes and the Integrated Skills Expanded Outreach Programme (ISEOP).”
Musara attributed the achievements to the collective efforts of the college’s staff.
“These awards belong to the entire Kwekwe Polytechnic team,” he said. “It is for this reason that the administration found it appropriate to recognise and celebrate their contribution.”
