Zibagwe Rural District Council (ZRDC) and ACF Mine have opted for an out-of-court settlement over money owed to the local authority, with the proposed deal involving cash payments and the purchase of a new motorised grader for council.
ZRDC chief executive officer Farayi Machaya told a full council meeting on October 2 that negotiations between the two parties were at an advanced stage, with their lawyers finalising the agreement.
“ACF Mine and council opted for an out of court settlement that they will settle the amount owed through both cash payments and the purchase of a brand-new motorized grader,” Machaya said.
“Engagement between council lawyers and ACF Mine’s lawyers is being finalised.”
Machaya did not disclose the amount owed by ACF Mine or the value of the proposed grader in his report.
