Six Midlanders make it into the National U17 trials!

Kwekwe has produced six trialists to the Zimbabwe Under-17 boys national soccer team preparing for the upcoming COSAFA tournament which begins in Harare on 11 September 2025.

The six are, Wayne Ngirazi from Noshville Academy in Mbizo, Craig Theo Sibanda and Pitso both from Amaveni Academy, Christian Mpande, Tichaona Tembo and Shelton Kureva all from Guinea Fowl.

According to the program regional technical development coach, Rejoice Moyo, the boys are already in camp in Harare going through the final selection process.

Moto told The Public Eye Sport that the ational technical director, Dominic, was impressed by Ngirazi, Mpande and Tembo. Ngirazi is a centre back, Mpande left back while Tembo is a right back.

Should the three make it into the final list, the Kwekwe flag will fly high during the COSAFA tournament.

The six were selected from a rigorous process that pulled together players from Midlands and Matebeleland South.

The panelists included other technical staff namely Munorweyi Masa, provincial coach Justin Maphosa responsible for talent identification and of course Moyo.

Maphosa was then appointed to work with the pool of other coaches who are doing the final screening in Harare.

Zifa has already announced that the COSAFA U17 boys tournament will be co-hosted by Yadah’s Heart and Soul Arena and MWOS’ Ngoni stadia.
