Redcliff holds budget review meetings, disability issues emerge

The Municipality of Redcliff has begun its 2025 mid-year budget performance review meetings with various stakeholders, with issues affecting people living with disabilities coming under the spotlight.

Municipality Public Relations Manager, Michael Magoronga, said the consultations, which started this month, are aimed at assessing progress made between January and June while shaping priorities for the remainder of the year and the 2026 budget.

“We have started our 2025 mid-year budget review, which is going to see us engage our stakeholders to review how we have fared so far from January to June 2025, and also to help us shape the way forward,” Magoronga said in an interview.

He said the review process has already engaged corporates, schools, and representatives of people living with disabilities, with further meetings scheduled to take place in various wards with residents.

“Generally, residents are happy with the improved water supply situation. We have managed to secure a dedicated line from Kwekwe City,” he said. “However, we continue to encourage them to pay their bills on time so that we can also pay Kwekwe City and ensure uninterrupted water supply.”

Magoronga noted that during the consultations, people living with disabilities raised concerns about limited access to some facilities within the municipality.

“There are some places that they cannot access, and we will actually work on addressing that going forward,” he said.

He also encouraged residents to actively participate in the budget review process.

“We want their input. They play a role in shaping their destiny and shaping their own town,” Magoronga added.

The budget review meetings are expected to continue next week in different wards.
