The Municipality of Redcliff has reduced rates for the business community by 10 percent in its 2026 budget in line with a central government directive aimed at improving the ease of doing business.

In a statement, Public Relations Manager Michael Kundai Magoronga said the move is meant to ease the cost burden on local enterprises and encourage investment.

“The Municipality of Redcliff reduced rates for the business community by 10 percent in the 2026 budget in compliance with Government’s directive to promote a more conducive operating environment,” Magoronga said.

He added that council also reduced expected revenue from licence fees by about 66 percent to make them more affordable.

“All these measures are meant to support businesses and stimulate economic activity while ensuring sustainability of local enterprises,” he said.

According to the municipality, business representatives welcomed the development during a recent engagement meeting, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening the local economy.

Magoronga urged the business community to reciprocate by settling their obligations on time to enable efficient service delivery.

“We encourage businesses to pay their current bills in full and those with arrears to engage council for payment arrangements, as unpaid dues negatively affect operations,” he said.

The municipality said the measures form part of broader efforts to balance revenue collection with support for economic growth at the local level.
