Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya has expressed satisfaction with progress being made in the construction of Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe.

Speaking during a tour of the facility, Prophet Magaya said significant strides had been achieved, with bucket seats already installed on two sides of the stadium. He noted that work is ongoing to complete installations on the remaining sections.

Magaya acknowledged the engineering challenges encountered in the construction process, saying timelines were largely determined by technical requirements such as cement curing and other structural considerations.

He also confirmed that experts, including former Confederation of African Football (CAF) official Sadat, had inspected the project.

According to Magaya, the expert’s assessment was positive, with indications that the stadium could meet CAF Category 2 standards, and potentially Category 3, despite concerns over its distance from major hospitals.

On when the stadium will be ready for use, Magaya was cautious not to give a specific date, but expressed optimism that matches could be hosted before 2026, possibly around September or October this year depending on final engineering assessments.

Magaya said the completion of Chahwanda Stadium would be a major boost for sport in the Midlands province and the country at large, providing an alternative venue at a time when most local stadiums have been deemed unfit to host international matches.
