Proma Events Africa Chief Executive Officer Blessing Jeke has announced a nationwide partnership with the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) to hold National Counterfeit Goods Awareness Roadshows aimed at strengthening consumer trust and promoting ethical trade practices.
Speaking during a CCZ press conference held in Kwekwe, Jeke said the collaboration with the council and key government ministries marks a significant step in efforts to combat the proliferation of counterfeit and substandard goods in the country.
“Proma Events Africa, in partnership with the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe and key government ministries, is proud to participate in the National Counterfeit Goods Awareness Roadshows,” said Jeke. “The campaign is designed to combat the proliferation of counterfeit and substandard goods in the Zimbabwean market.”
He said the roadshows will be held across all provinces, offering platforms for education, community engagement, and dialogue between consumers, enforcement authorities and businesses.
“The initiative will empower enforcement agencies, engage the business community and educate consumers through exhibitions, interactive discussions and community engagements,” Jeke said. “The campaign seeks to strengthen consumer trust and promote ethical trade practices.”
Jeke emphasized that tackling counterfeit goods requires joint efforts from both the public and private sectors, urging manufacturers, retailers, distributors and brands to participate in the roadshows by showcasing and marketing genuine products.
“This not only provides visibility but also helps customers distinguish genuine brands from imitations, thereby strengthening market confidence,” he added.
According to Jeke, the series of roadshows will culminate in a national conference on counterfeit goods, where key stakeholders will deliberate on sustainable policy and enforcement strategies. The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe is expected to deliver the keynote address at the event.
He reaffirmed Proma Events Africa’s commitment to supporting initiatives that uphold integrity in trade and protect consumers, saying such efforts contribute to Zimbabwe’s economic growth in line with Vision 2030.
