The Parliament of Zimbabwe is holding an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management workshop in Kadoma aimed at strengthening institutional efficiency and improving service delivery.

The workshop has brought together parliamentary staff and the Quality Assurance Team of Parliament (QUATPAR) to enhance capacity building and reinforce Parliament’s quality management systems in line with international standards.

Speaking at the workshop, Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda urged parliamentary staff to embrace quality management principles in their daily operations.

Mudenda said the Quality Management System should go beyond policy and become part of Parliament’s operational culture in carrying out its constitutional mandate.

He said Parliament’s responsibilities of oversight, representation and legislation, as outlined in Section 119 of the Constitution, require efficiency, accountability and continuous improvement.

“Quality management must be embedded in all our systems and operations if Parliament is to continue serving the people of Zimbabwe with excellence, integrity and professionalism,” said Mudenda.

Welcome remarks were delivered by Josphat Jaji on behalf of the Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Marian Chombo who commended Parliament for prioritising quality assurance and institutional development.

QUATPAR officials said the workshop was meant to strengthen Parliament’s Quality Management Framework while promoting teamwork and collaboration among staff members.

Officials said Parliament, which is certified under the Zimbabwe Standards (ZWS) ISO 9001:2015 framework, remains committed to improving transparency, accountability and service delivery.

The workshop also focused on increasing staff understanding of quality assurance systems and promoting a culture of excellence across parliamentary departments.

Quality management expert Brian Musarurwa facilitated sessions on quality management systems and standardisation, focusing on the importance of consistency and institutional discipline in maintaining high-performing organisations.

Participants described the workshop as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, refresh skills and reaffirm Parliament’s commitment to quality service delivery.

The workshop is expected to strengthen Parliament’s operational efficiency and enhance public confidence in the institution.
