Mbizo High School Head of Information Technology Department Taremeredzwa Nemadire, says the institution is strengthening technology-driven learning to improve classroom delivery and access to digital resources for learners.
In an interview with journalists on the sidelines of a donation of sanitary pads to girls at the school by Kwekwe Mayor Cllr Albert Zinhanga, he outlined how the school is integrating modern gadgets into everyday teaching.
“The thrust of the department is to make sure teaching and learning is delivered using modern digital gadgets,” Nemadire said, adding that the IT unit supports learners from Form 1 through to Advanced Level.
He said the department ensures all equipment remains functional daily and connected to the internet so teachers can conduct lessons using smart interactive whiteboards and computers across the school.
According to Nemadire, the school currently operates three computer laboratories accessible to students, while five interactive whiteboards are available for classroom instruction.
“We allow learners from Form Three to Form Six to bring their gadgets from home. The devices are registered with the administration and connected to the school internet so they can use them for learning,” he said.
Learners without personal devices, he added, are able to access the school’s computer labs to research and complete coursework online.
Nemadire noted that the school’s connectivity is supported by satellite internet provided through Starlink, enabling wider access to online learning materials.
He said he joined the school in 2022, when digital learning systems were already in place, and has since focused on maintaining and expanding their use to support effective teaching.
The school’s push toward technology-assisted learning comes amid growing efforts by education institutions in Kwekwe to integrate digital tools into classrooms to enhance learning outcomes.
