Rising Kwekwe reggae and dancehall artist Advokate I is set to release a new single, Rombe, on 1 May 2026 across major digital streaming platforms.
Born Gabriel Muchanyu, the artist said the track reflects challenges people face in their personal and social lives.
“Rombe was inspired by the realities we see in our communities, where people sometimes feel held back despite their efforts,” he said.
The song blends log drum elements with Shona melodies and carries a message about perseverance. The title, Rombe, refers to a pauper or beggar and is used metaphorically to describe hardship and struggle.
According to the artist’s team, the track was produced by Takudzwa Sithole of Play Meka Music. It was written by Muchanyu and Munashe Mukarakate, with backing vocals from Amanda Gemu. The song also features Amanda G and Bravo Man.
The single marks Advokate I’s first release of 2026 and follows his debut album, The Revelation.
Advokate I previously received a nomination for Best New African Act at the UMP Music Awards in Malawi in 2025 and performed at the UMP Festival’s second international edition.
“Music can be used to reflect on issues affecting society,” he said.
Rombe will be available on platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay and YouTube.
