Kwekwe Town Clerk Dr. Lucia Mnkandla accentuated the importance of unity and focus in achieving the City of Kwekwe’s vision to become the best-run local authority in Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region by 2030.

She said this during a full council meeting at the Civic Centre recently.

“We managed to be united and move together towards our vision of being the best-run local authority in Zimbabwe and the SADC region by 2030 and now the first part of our vision has finally been achieved,” said the city’s boss.

“The challenge left for us now is getting into SADC competitions because competitions are the ones that keep us on our toes and drive us to strive for more,” she added.

She acknowledged that being recognized as the best comes with expectations and standards that must be met.

“Our greatest challenge is performing more, as there is always room for improvement. As we celebrate, we want to appreciate the community and also remain focused until we achieve our goal and become a real model city,” said Dr Mnkandla.

Dr. Mnkandla’s leadership has been recognized nationally as she recently won the 2024 President Emmerson Mnangagwa Award for Best Town Clerk in the country.
