Four-year-old killed by truck in a tragic acciden

A four-year-old boy, Tinotenda Gonese, tragically died on the spot after being struck by a haulage truck on December 31, 2024, in Kwekwe Central Business District.
His father, Vitalis Mpofu, 35, is currently hospitalized in serious condition at Kwekwe General Hospital.
According to the Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the incident occurred at Senderayi roundabout, where Vitalis and Tinotenda were waiting for the truck to circle around.
“The rear right wheels of the trailer encroached where the two were standing and ran over them,” he said.
Tinotenda suffered fatal injuries after he was crushed on the head, while his father sustained a fractured leg.
The haulage truck did not stop following the accident and the police are now appealing to the public for assistance.
“We are appealing to members of the public who have information which can assist to identify and locate the driver as well as the truck to approach any Police Station,” Inspector Mahoko said.
