Mbizo legislator Corban Madzivanyika has outlined a series of proposed projects for the constituency, including additional school infrastructure, seven solar-powered boreholes, road upgrades and traffic lights at a busy junction.
Madzivanyika said his immediate priority was to get Mbizo 15 Secondary School operational by constructing an additional classroom block.
“The plan is to build one extra block so that lessons can begin. This will ease congestion in our secondary schools,” he said.
On water, Madzivanyika said he planned to drill seven solar-powered boreholes in Mbizo 19, Mbizo 22, Mbizo 8 KMP, Mbizo 15, Mbizo Section 7, Mbizo 10 and Mbizo 20.
He said non-functional boreholes across the constituency would also be rehabilitated.
Madzivanyika said eight solar-powered boreholes had already been drilled using 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations.
“No CDF was received for 2023 and 2024 but we still delivered eight solar-powered boreholes using 2025 funds,” he said.
The legislator also said he would lobby for improved resourcing of local authority clinics to help reduce pressure on Kwekwe General Hospital.
“We cannot continue to have one hospital carrying the weight of an entire city and its surrounding areas,” he said.
On road infrastructure, Madzivanyika said he would push for traffic lights to be installed at the Mbizo 4 junction along Maunganidze Road and Mbizo Road.
He also said he would lobby central government to tar about 70 percent of roads in Mbizo, many of which he said remained unpaved.
Madzivanyika further said he would advocate for designated space for home industries and workshops to support young people seeking training and employment opportunities.
“We must promote youth empowerment by creating space where young people get trained on various trades for them to be self-sufficient,” he said.
The proposed projects would require coordination and funding from relevant authorities, including central government and the Kwekwe City Council.
Madzivanyika did not give timelines or projected costs for most of the poposed projects.
