JT Academy quartet invited to South Africa for assessment

Four young soccer players from Kwekwe based JT Academy have been invited to Kagiso Sports Academy in South Africa for an assessment following their performances at the Dinaledi international football tournament in Botswana last month.

JT Academy founder and former Zimbabwe Warriors head coach Jairos Tapera said the players — Bethel Moyo, Mpumelelo Maphosa, Joshua Vheremu and Jainos Tapera — attracted the attention of scouts during the tournament.

Tapera said the quartet left for South Africa yesterday for further assessment by Kagiso Sports Academy from 17 – 22 August 2026.

“Remember last month when we went to Botswana for the Dinaledi international football tournament, there were many scouts who came and watched us playing games” Tapera said.

“Four of our young boys, Bethel Moyo, Mpumelelo Maphosa, Joshua Vheremu and Jainos Tapera, were identified by Kagiso Sports Academy of South Africa. They have now extended an invitation for these four young boys who are going there from Monday, 17 up to 22 August, for a weeks assessment.”

Tapera said the assessment would give the academy an opportunity to evaluate the players further after watching them in Botswana.

“This time I think they want to see them on the ground. It’s a very big achievement for JT Academy to provide such a huge opportunity for these young boys,” he said.

He expressed hope that the opportunity would contribute to the continued development of young footballers at JT Academy.

“We wish them well, and we wish JT Academy to continue nurturing and exporting a lot of these young boys,” Tapera said.

The invitation represents an opportunity for the four players to showcase their abilities in a different environment, although their eventual progression will depend on the outcome of the assessment and any subsequent decisions by the South African academy.
