Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube has described calls for nationwide protests on 31 July 2026 as misguided, saying Zimbabwe should remain focused on economic development and the implementation of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
Speaking during the official opening of the Combined Kwekwe District Agricultural Show and NDS2 Expo at the National Mining Museum in Kwekwe, Ncube said the country should continue pursuing its Vision 2030 development agenda.
He said the planned demonstrations were misplaced, arguing that Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 of 2026 had followed the country’s legal processes.
“Calls for nationwide protests on 31 July 2026 are misguided as Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 of 2026 received overwhelming support from the public, endorsement by the Parliament of Zimbabwe and was duly assented to by His Excellency the President in line with our legal provisions,” said Ncube.
The minister said the focus should remain on accelerating socio-economic transformation through investment, industrialisation and agricultural development.
