Kwekwe Sports, Arts and Culture Festival registration opens

Registration has opened for the 2026 Kwekwe City Council Sports, Arts and Culture Festival and Mayor’s Challenge Cup, which will run from 30 July to 2 August at Mbizo Stadium and the Mbizo Youth Centre.

According to a notice issued by Kwekwe City Council, activities will begin at 8am each day.

The festival will feature 17 sporting and cultural disciplines, including soccer, handball, netball, volleyball, boxing, basketball, tennis, chess, pool, darts, tug of war, modelling, a half marathon and taekwondo.

Cultural events will include Nyau dance, traditional dance, choral music, live bands, digital music and drama.

Council said registration is now open across all disciplines, with affiliation fees applicable. The deadline for registration is 17 July 2026, while participating teams are required to submit completed entry forms at least one week before the festival.

Affiliation fees range from US$5 for junior chess to US$50 per team for tug of war. Fees for several disciplines, including Under-17 soccer, girls’ soccer, netball, volleyball, basketball, pool, taekwondo, choral music, traditional dance, drama and Nyau dance, are set at US$20.

Social soccer teams will pay US$40, while senior modelling entrants and live bands will each pay US$20.

Council has advised interested participants to register through its Mbizo or Amaveni offices using the contact details provided in the official notice.

The annual festival brings together schools, sports clubs, community groups and cultural organisations to compete in a range of sporting and cultural activities.
