Learners and teachers at Father Flower Educational Network commemorated Africa Day through cultural exhibitions and traditional activities aimed at promoting African heritage and values.

The celebrations featured teachers dressed in Zimbabwean traditional attire, while learners participated in activities showcasing different aspects of African culture and traditions.

Activities included fire making, preparation of indigenous meals, mbira performances, exhibitions of cultural artefacts, traditional dances, ngano (folk tales), drama presentations, modelling and indigenous games.

The event provided learners with an opportunity to learn about African traditions and the importance of preserving cultural values.

Speaking during the celebrations, Waverley Institute headmaster Edmore Zinyongo commended parents for supporting the school in promoting discipline and cultural awareness among learners.

He said the institution was committed to developing responsible citizens through discipline, patriotism and leadership development.

Zinyongo encouraged learners to value their Zimbabwean identity and uphold African values that promote unity, respect and hard work.

“The preservation of our culture is important in building a strong nation with disciplined young people who can contribute positively to national development,” he said.

Parents and community members who attended the event praised the school for creating a platform that encourages learners to appreciate African heritage and cultural diversity.

The celebrations concluded with traditional dance performances and indigenous games by learners.
