Kwekwe Polytechnic has convened a stakeholders consultative meeting as part of efforts to ensure the institution continues to provide a skilled human capital base to support national development.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by the college’s Vice Principal, Engineer Christine Moyo, Kwekwe Polytechnic Principal Evans Musara said the consultative meeting was aimed at gathering input from key stakeholders on the present and future direction of the institution.
Musara said the engagement was rooted in the Ubuntu/hunhu philosophy, which emphasises collective dialogue and shared responsibility in addressing issues of common concern.
He said the institution values the views of stakeholders drawn from various sectors, including industry, commerce, agriculture, small and medium enterprises, the public sector and the media, noting that their contributions are critical to the college’s growth and relevance.
“The views and expectations of our stakeholders mean a lot to us as we seek encouragement in our areas of strength and improvement in areas where we may be rated low,” Musara said.
He said the consultative process was also aligned with the institution’s newly established client charter, which places students at the centre of service delivery while recognising the role of stakeholders in shaping outcomes.
Musara said effective collaboration with stakeholders would enable the college to play its role in the implementation of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), whose objective is to consolidate gains made under NDS1 and steer the country towards achieving upper-middle-income status by 2030.
“Our sector remains that of human capital development so as to provide a skilled human capital base for the nation. We cannot achieve this alone,” he said.
He added that the consultative meeting would help the institution refine its strategies, transform service delivery and align its mandate with stakeholder expectations and national aspirations.
Musara thanked stakeholders for their continued support and participation in the development of Kwekwe Polytechnic.
