Police in Midlands Province have confirmed the death of a 55-year-old Gokwe man who was fatally attacked by a gang of six men in what is believed to be a revenge assault.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occurred on 17 August 2025 at Kashiri Village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe.

The victim, identified as Mardon Dube of Kashiri Village, died after being severely assaulted and stabbed by the suspects who were reportedly seeking his son, James Dube (21).

“On 16 August 2025, James Dube had a fight with the suspects at Chidoma Business Centre where he stabbed one of them on the hand before fleeing,” said Inspector Mahoko.

The following day, the suspects allegedly went to James’ home looking for him. On noticing them, James fled, leaving his father behind.

“The six men took turns to assault and stab Mardon Dube until he became unconscious. He died while being rushed to hospital,” Inspector Mahoko said.
The suspects have been named as Oliver Madzivazvido, Felix Madzivazvido, Jealous Madzivazvido, Prince Ngondi, Tinashe Shonhiwa and Tafadzwa Shonhiwa, all of Village Madzivazvido, Chief Chireya, Gokwe.

Police have since launched a manhunt and appealed to the public for information that may lead to the suspects’ arrest.

“We are calling upon anyone with information on the whereabouts of these six men to report to the nearest police station,” Inspector Mahoko said.
