Kwekwe City councillors have raised alarm over bedbug infestation in the Mbizo 7 suburb, expressing fears that the problem could soon spread to the neighboring Mbizo 8 suburb.
Ward 9 Councillor Maxwell Judha stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive plan to eradicate the pests and prevent further spread, during a recent full council meeting.
“The issue of bedbugs needs immediate attention as they are now multiplying, especially in Section 7. This problem must be dealt with urgently to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring sections,” he said.
Kwekwe Mayor Cllr Albert Zinhanga (pictured above) stressed the importance of identifying hotspot areas to prevent a larger outbreak.
“We should control and prevent bedbugs from reaching other areas. This needs to be made a priority so that we can identify all the hotspots in Kwekwe and manage the situation before it gets out of hand,” he said.
